Launched in 1980, the de Havilland Dash 8 is the most successful regional airliner in the world, with over 400 in service. The first member of the family, the Series 100 combines advanced technology, superior design features and fuel-efficient turbine engines to provide the ruggedness, reliability and performance required in the short-haul, high-frequency regional airline environment.
Newer models of all Dash 8 aircraft carry the "Q" (for Quiet) designation. Equipped with the advanced technology Noise and Vibration Suppression (NVS) system, Dash 8Q aircraft are the quietest, most vibration-free turboprop aircraft in the sky, setting previously unknown standards of passenger comfort that approach those of jet aircraft.
The same qualities that make the Dash 8Q an outstanding passenger aircraft--spacious interior, outstanding performance and reliability--also make it an ideal multi-mission platform. For years, the Dash 8 Series 100 have been proving their capabilities in military and coastal surveillance, as fast and convenient executive transport and for airways and navigation aid calibration.
The de Havilland Dash 8 family is marketed and supported by Bombardier Regional Aircraft.
